How Often Should You Detox Your Feet?

September 1, 2020 By Miranda Jackson Leave a Comment

Footbaths are a therapeutic activity that, for decades, have served to promote the well-being of this part of the body. They are usually used to combat inflammation and muscle tension, either after a long day of work or when training with high physical impact.

Its application helps to improve blood circulation. Thus, it facilitates this inflammation of the muscles and generates a relief of the pain that they usually present.

Also, they can be supplemented with some natural ingredients that, due to their composition, help to detoxify the skin of external agents that cause them imperfections.

Although it is an ancient method of relaxation, today, it continues to be a healthy practice that reduces stress, fluid retention, and other common problems in the area. This time we want to share a unique formula, so you do not hesitate to use it as part of your personal care routine.

Detoxifying bath to protect and care for the feet

The detoxifying bath to improve the health of the feet is prepared from the properties of the salt of the Himalayas or Epsom salts. Its relaxing, exfoliating, and anti-inflammatory effects are well known. These, combined with elements such as sodium bicarbonate, facilitate the elimination of dead cells that are retained on the surface of the skin, giving the feet a dry and unsightly appearance. Both the salts and sodium bicarbonate have antibacterial and antifungal substances that, after being absorbed, prevent and combat the formation of fungi on the skin and nails.

They contain minerals and potent antioxidant compounds that improve the hydration process. In turn, they prevent the formation of imperfections such as calluses and cracked skin.

It has relaxing, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic effects that control the inflammation and pain caused by spending too much time in the same position or by trauma. Its regular use improves circulation in this area, which, as many knows, tends to present difficulties in returning blood to the upper part of the body. By the way, it improves the functions of the lymphatic system, stimulating the elimination of the toxins that are slowly accumulating. To make matters worse, it is an exciting solution against fluid retention or edema, a disorder that causes inflammation, tingling, and pain.

How often is it advisable to detoxify?

In recent years, detox diets have become very popular. While this practice can help us eliminate toxins from our body, how recommendable is it? And how often should it be carried out?

In addition to the effects it causes, one of the biggest questions when detoxifying us is to determine when we can do it again. To answer this question, we must first make it clear that detox diets, in which we only consume green smoothies, just like coins, have two sides.

One in which benefits are reported since our body is freed of all those harmful substances that we know as toxins. And another, in which our caloric intake is reduced, our energy is lower, and side effects can lead us to get sick.

Sometimes, detoxification leads to symptoms such as migraines, fatigue, nausea, constipation, or diarrhea. It will depend on each person and, above all, on their health status. That is why it is recommended not to accompany this process with great physical efforts: nothing to go to the gym to train or go jogging in the morning.

To have optimum health, the ideal is to resort to detox diets every two months for three days. In this way, you will keep yourself “purified.” In case you think it is too much, the best moments to detoxify are after “punctual excesses,” as in January after the typical holiday feast.

How to prepare this detoxifying bath for the feet?

This foot bath is an alternative therapy that can be incorporated as part of the body’s detoxification protocols.

While it is an excellent solution against inflammation and tension, it should be prepared several times a month to eliminate some toxins through the skin.

Its practice guarantees relaxed, healthy feet with hydrated, soft, and protected skin.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups of hot water (1 ½ liter)
  • Six tablespoons of Himalayan salt or Epsom salts (75 g)
  • Five tablespoons of baking soda (50 g)

Preparation

  • Pour the cups of water into a pot and bring them to a boil for a few minutes.
  • Once it boils, please remove it from the fire and incorporate it in a container where the feet fit.
  • Then add the tablespoons of salt and baking soda.
  • Make sure the temperature is suitable for the feet before submerging them.

Application mode

  • Before preparing this bath, wash the feet to remove dirt and impurities accumulated on its surface.
  • Grime particles can affect the absorption of nutrients from salts and decrease their properties in the detoxification process.
  • After submerging the feet, relax for 20 or 30 minutes.
  • During this time, massage them together to facilitate the removal of dead skin.
  • You can use an exfoliating glove or a pumice stone to remove dead cells that cause hardness.
  • After the recommended time, remove the feet from the water and dry them well with a soft towel.
  • Do this treatment once a week, or whenever you feel the tension.
  • If you want a more relaxing effect, you can add a little lavender or tea tree essential oil.

Are you ready to do it at home? Follow the advice given and give your feet a complete treatment to keep them healthy and beautiful.

From the first application, you will notice your healthier skin and, by the way, you will say goodbye to the tension.
