Do you take care of your dishwasher?
A dishwasher is a household appliance highly appreciated by people. It saves us a lot of time, and it keeps us the thankless task of having to wash the dishes.
But like everything else, it must also be maintained and above all keep it clean! Here are some tips for cleaning and maintaining a dishwasher!
1. Use vinegar as a rinse aid
Replace the rinse aid in your dishwasher with vinegar and avoid stains on your dishes while saving money!
2. Use the dishwasher often
For those who rarely use the dishwasher, it would be better to use it regularly. This will prevent the accumulation of food and dirt and, therefore, bad smells.
3. Remove debris from the holes in the rotating arms
With a toothpick, tweezers, or the equivalent, you can get out small debris stuck in the small holes of the rotating arms. It might take a while, but it will be an excellent way to maintain your dishwasher.
4. Clean the contours of the dishwasher door
The edges of the door and the gaskets are not washed when you operate the dishwasher. Therefore, it will be essential to do it yourself. You can use a sponge or cloth with a household product. If you prefer to use a brush, this will also be perfect.
5. Clean below the door
The underside of the door is rarely reached by water jets from the dishwasher. We must, therefore, think about cleaning this place well too.
6. Remove the smell of mold in the dishwasher
Use bleach to remove mold odors. You just have to run a cycle by adding your bleach. It is important to clean the dishwasher thoroughly so that there is no longer any trace of bleach.
7. Remove rust
There is a rust remover for dishwashers sold on the market. This should be effective in removing rust from your dishwasher.
8. Use rinse aid
Once a month, fill your rinse aid compartment to remove stains from dishes.
9. Soak the baskets in the dishwasher
Each month, soak the baskets in a bowl filled with warm water, dish soap, and white vinegar.
10. Remove hard water deposits
Empty your dishwasher. Then pour 2 cups of white vinegar into the dishwasher and start a full wash cycle with the warmest possible water. When halfway through the cycle, stop the dishwasher and let the vinegar work overnight. In the morning, complete the cycle and wipe the interior with a dry cloth.
