How to Clean Shower Window?

August 10, 2020 By Miranda Jackson Leave a Comment

A shower glass quickly becomes dirty and soaked in lime and soap scum. We don’t always know how to clean it properly, so Curiosity Insight has thought of giving you some good, simple tips for perfect cleaning! Here are some tips for cleaning a shower window!

1. Clean a shower window with newspaper

Did you know that it is possible to use newspaper to clean and remove stains from shower glass? To do this you must:

  • Make balls of newspaper.
  • Combine water and vinegar in a container.
  • Wet the paper balls with this mixture of water and vinegar.
  • Scrub the shower glass.

This homemade trick is perfect for deep cleaning the glass door and the glass in the shower. It’s a quick fix for removing lime stains too.

2. White vinegar and salt to shine the glass

Do you want to know another homemade recipe to clean and shine the shower glass? All you need is just salt and vinegar.

  • Use 4 cups of hot water
  • Add a handful of salt
  • Add a cup of white vinegar
  • Mix well and then wash the glass and the glass door.

It is important to use a soft or better microfiber cloth to wash the shower glass. With such a cloth there is no risk of seeing traces on the glass once the cleaning is finished.

3. Wash the shower glass with methylated spirits

Methylated spirits or household alcohol is certainly the product that you absolutely must have at home. This product is ideal for cleaning and degreasing everything in the house.

So why not use methylated spirits to clean and shine the shower glass? You just need to spray with household alcohol or even wet a rag and then thoroughly clean the shower panes. It’s the perfect household product for removing the toughest stains from glass. Ideal for removing lime stains on the glass but also on the tiles of the shower.

4. Blanc de Meudon for a very dirty shower glass

If you are looking for a natural recipe for cleaning a dirty and clogged shower glass then Meudon white may be the solution for you.

Mix the Meudon white with a little water and vinegar to then clean the shower window. Don’t forget to rinse well at the end to finalize the cleaning of the shower glass. You can also use this homemade recipe to clean the mirror in the bathroom.

Blanc de Meudon can also be used elsewhere than in the bathroom. You can indeed clean the ceramic hob in the kitchen or the copper as well as the silverware.

5. A lemon to wash the windows of the shower

Lemon is another natural trick that you can use to clean windows but also tiles in a shower. There are two ways to clean a shower glass with lemon:

First method:

  • Cut a lemon in half
  • Rub the shower glass with the lemon half
  • Take a cloth soaked in water to continue cleaning
  • Dry with a soft, dry microfiber cloth

Second method:

  • Mix water and lemon juice
  • Spray on the shower glass
  • Rub with a cloth or sponge
  • Dry with a dry cloth

And there you have it, a 100% natural cleaning trick to clean and remove stubborn stains from the glass of the shower. Can also be useful for washing windows and mirrors in the house.

Heat the vinegar and lemon

If you want the vinegar and lemon trick to be even more effective at cleaning stubborn stains from glass, heating may be a solution. You can, therefore, heat the white vinegar or the lemon juice before cleaning the shower glass.

An effective tip also for stubborn stains on bathroom tiles, shower glass, and on mirrors.

6. A lime stain on the shower glass

If your water has a lot of lime or if your water is hard, lime stains may form on the taps but also on the various surfaces of the shower. On glass or tiles it can be difficult to remove a lime stain, but not impossible.

7. Acetone for stubborn stains

If the rubbing alcohol does not work well for cleaning the shower glass then you can use acetone. This product is even more powerful than household alcohol and therefore quickly dislodges the most stubborn stains.

Of course, as it is a powerful product, do not forget to rinse and ventilate the bathroom after cleaning the shower windows. You can use a cloth or just a sponge soaked in acetone. But again, don’t forget to ventilate the bathroom during and after cleaning.

8. Dish soap and rinse aid

Even easier to wash a diaper window, simply dish soap. For very dirty windows you can add the dish soap directly to the glass and then rub with a cloth or a sponge.

To make it even more effective as a cleaning trick, add rinse aid at the end as well. If you don’t have rinse aid then add white vinegar. With this product, your glass and shower door will be shiny and sparkling like never before!

9. A shower squeegee

No matter what cleaning trick you use to clean and shine the windows in the shower, maintenance is necessary after each shower. In this sense, it is very important to wash and dry the shower glass well to avoid the formation of water and lime stains on the glass.

The best solution for removing water from a window after a shower is the squeegee. Here is precisely a model of shower squeegee ideal for drying glass quickly.

10. A gadget for washing the windows of the house

Whether it is to wash the shower glass and all the windows in the house, know that there is a pretty cool little gadget that saves a lot of time. This gadget is the cordless window cleaner.
