How to Clean Smeg Pyrolytic Oven?

August 23, 2020 By Miranda Jackson Leave a Comment

As soon as you switch on the pyrolysis of the oven and start the cleaning, the oven is heated to a temperature of about 500 degrees for a period of 1 to 3 hours. In this heat burns all burnt dirt in the oven and degenerate into fine dust, which can then wipe with a damp cloth. How many degrees the temperature reaches depends on the selected stove.

The process for the pyrolytic cleaning of a baking oven was patented in 1987 by the inventor, Gaggenau Werke. Pyrolysis is, therefore, not a new invention. Instead, the process could be further improved by different manufacturers.

Cooking after cooking your oven becomes dirty, so it is essential to clean it regularly. Here are some tips for cleaning your pyrolysis oven.

The advantages and disadvantages of pyrolysis

The pyrolysis thus works by burning the dirt at very high temperatures and makes the oven self-cleaning. Experience shows that generating heat leads to high power consumption. The additional energy consumption is not very favorable. The extra electricity costs are also the most significant disadvantages of pyrolysis. To clean the oven once costs must be estimated from about 60 cents to 1.20 euros. However, the price of a good oven cleaner is sometimes high. There is also the possibility that an oven spray can also be toxic and thus dangerous and harmful to health. It is, therefore, essential to weigh the pros and cons of a pyrolysis oven primarily with the pros and cons of conventional oven cleaning.

Compared to an oven without pyrolysis, the advantages are clear that the pyrolysis in the oven works, is not harmful to health and clean the stove makes child’s play and all stains can be removed without effort.

Pyrolysis oven cleaning: operation

This self-cleaning system is performed by burning grease and dirt deposited during cooking.

Read and follow the instructions in your oven manual, then choose the cleaning time (1 or 2 hours) depending on the degree of soiling. Start the pyrolysis cleaning cycle at 500 ° C: at this temperature, the debris is then reduced to ashes, and you will have to remove them with a damp sponge when the heat is correct.

How to clean the oven: tips

  • Start self-cleaning every two months or more often if you cook a lot of poultry and roasts.
  • Never open the oven door once the self-cleaning is engaged and do not allow abrasive objects (tea towels) to hang on the door.
  • Before starting the cleaning cycle, also remember to remove all food that has fallen to the bottom of the oven and those that are thrown against the walls with a damp sponge.
  • Similarly, do not leave any accessory in the oven.

Clean pyrolysis oven: the cooking grate

Remove the grill and wash with water and dishwashing liquid. Rub with a non-metallic sponge and do not use the abrasive material as it may rust the grill.

Tip cleaning oven: the compartments

To prevent grease and food residue from igniting, wipe the chamber and accessories with a damp cloth before starting the cleaning cycle.

Clean your oven: the glass

  • Apply a little baking soda with water for efficient and environmentally friendly cleaning. Leave on for a few hours, then remove this mixture with a sponge and soapy water. Rinse with a sponge and clear water, and finish wiping with a soft cloth.
  • You can also add white vinegar to the baking layer for more efficiency.
  • If stubborn stains stick to the glass of your oven, apply a cloth moistened with household alcohol.

Pyrolysis cleaning (oven): how to deodorize it?

Even after cleaning the appliance at 500 ° C, cooking odors may persist.

Arrange citrus zest in foil and heat your oven to 200 ° C for 15 minutes to neutralize all odors.

Followed step by step, these easy to apply tips will help you have a clean oven in all circumstances.
