How to Keep Colored Clothes From Fading?

August 10, 2020 By Miranda Jackson Leave a Comment

How to ensure that a garment does not fade anymore? Buying new clothes is an enjoyable activity, especially when you find linen that fits you perfectly.

However, sometimes the perfect garment becomes importable after washing it because it has rubbed off. Fortunately, some tips will help you overcome the problems of bleeding clothes. Curiosity Insight offers you tips against washing off clothes.

1. Fix the colors of a garment

You are fixing the color of a garment after its purchase is a crucial step to keep your clothing in good condition and especially to keep colors bright and intact. But how do you fix the colors of fabric?

Fix the color of your new purchase by soaking your new garment in cold water with the addition of white vinegar. The vinegar helps to fix the colors. But don’t forget to rinse your garment afterward to remove all traces of vinegar on the fabric.

2. Collect the laundry that rubs off with the milk

Did you know that milk is a popular grandma’s recipe to put an end to your bleeding laundry problem? If the damage has already been done and your garment has already faded, soak it in milk for a few hours. You will need about two to five liters of milk for this, depending on the size of the garment to be soaked. Rinse the garment thoroughly to avoid milk odors on the fabric.

3. Zero for black clothes

If your new garment is black, wash it with Zero brand black soap. This soap prevents the black from losing its liveliness during washing. It’s an excellent way to keep the black shine of your clothes despite frequent washing in the washing machine.

4. Dark clothing VS light clothing

To prevent the color of a dark garment from damaging a light-colored garment, do not wash them together. Instead, remove all clothes of the same color together to prevent an item of clothing from turning pink because it was washed with a red piece.

A wash for dark clothes and a wash for light clothes is an old rule to follow to prevent your clothes from fading.

5. Do your clothes rub off during drying?

When you dry your clothes, don’t mix the colors either. Instead, air dry clothes that fade or dark in color on their own. This will prevent your new clothes from fading more.

6. Water and coarse salt to fix the colors

Another tip to fix the color of a fabric and prevent it from fading is to soak it for a few hours in a liter of water with a cup of coarse salt: salt and water, a free and straightforward trick to prevent clothes from fading more.

7. How do I get a stained item of clothing?

If you want to recover a garment stained by another that has rubbed off, soak it in a decoction of bay leaves for a few hours. Just throw a dozen bay leaves in a liter of water and boil for fifteen minutes, let cool, and then soak the garment.

8. A little bleach

If it is a white garment that fades, soak it in a water bath with two caps of bleach for a few minutes. However, care must be taken to regularly check the condition of the fabric because if you leave the garment unattended for too long, the bleach may burn the material. Better to repeat the operation several times with a small amount of bleach than to damage the garment forever.

9. Dye your garment darker

If your white garment is unrecoverable, why not dye it a darker color so you can wear it again. You will find several products online or even homemade recipes for dyeing a white garment.

10. Run a hot water wash cycle

Finally, if you’ve just washed items that bleed and decide to wash other clothes, run a wash cycle in hot, soapy water with nothing else in it. This will prevent dye residues from damaging your other costumes, which you like a lot, for example.
