How to Keep Your Microwave Clean With Natural Products?

August 10, 2020 By Miranda Jackson 1 Comment

Your microwave oven is a real carnage …

Just like with the conventional oven, the microwave can quickly get dirty too. It is enough to put a dish that is a little too juicy without covering it, and the inside of the oven becomes a real carnage of dirt!

How to clean a microwave naturally? Splashes always end up getting them, so here are a few tips that will help you clean or keep your microwave oven clean!

1. Heat hot water

Place a bowl or mug in the microwave and heat water in it for about 2 minutes. Steam will loosen grease and dirt. Then pass a sponge and voila! To put on a pleasant smell, add a little lemon juice to the water. Be careful; let the hot water stand because it may be hot.

2. Use white vinegar to wash the microwave oven

The most straightforward trick to cleaning a microwave is to use white vinegar. White vinegar is a perfect disinfectant and will eliminate bad odors. Pour a little white vinegar in a bowl. Add a little water to it. Put the pan in the microwave and boil the mixture for 4 minutes. Remove the bowl and wipe it all over the inside of the microwave.

3. White vinegar and lemon to clean a microwave

As the smell of white vinegar is not particularly pleasant, you can add a little lemon or a few drops of essential oil. Then put the cup in your microwave and heat for 3 minutes at maximum speed. Once the 3 minutes have passed, wait a little longer for the steam to have the desired effect. Finish by wiping down your device with a clean cloth. You can operate in the same way, replacing the white vinegar with water and lemon. To do this, fill your bowl with 2/3 water and 1/3 lemon juice.

4. Clean the interior with claystone

Last tip for cleaning the walls of a microwave that is stained and encrusted with all kinds of residue? Wet a sponge with a little water, and moisten it with claystone before cleaning the walls by rubbing lightly.

100% ecological, claystone has the merit of leaving a slightly less strong smell than white vinegar, but you will have to rub a little more!

5. Always put a protective “bell”

This is a circular plastic cover specially designed for microwave ovens. Just place it on top of your plate, and you’ll be sure there won’t be any sauce or food splashing all over your microwave!

6. Don’t forget to put a lid on the dishes

We don’t always think about it, but when you put a plastic dish, for example, in the oven and don’t put the lid on it, it is more likely to have damage afterward!

7. Bad smell in the microwave oven

If there is an unpleasant smell in the microwave, heat hot water with lemon slices for a few minutes and repeat a few times to remove this bad smell in the microwave for good.

8. Soak a cloth with water

A bit like trick number 1, you can also place a cloth soaked in water in the center of your microwave. The condensation that will be created will clean the entire interior of your microwave oven.

9. Orange slices!

And yes, you need to cut orange slices and scrub the entire inside of the microwave. In addition to cleaning well, a pleasant smell will emerge from the microwave oven.

10. Water and baking soda

You can also clean the inside of the microwave oven with water and baking soda. Rub well to remove any stubborn stains. Be careful to rinse and clean to remove all traces of baking soda after cleaning is complete.

11. Use a cream cleanser

A good cleanser and a good sponge, and you will have a sparkling clean microwave! Take, for example, Vim and clean all the corners of your oven. To rinse, take a very damp washcloth.

12. Soapy water to clean the joints

Clean the joints of your microwave with a sponge soaked in hot water and dish soap. Do not use the abrasive side as this may damage your device. Rinse with clean water and then wipe with a dry cloth.

13. Household alcohol to clean the glass

Degrease the glass of your appliance with a damp sponge soaked in household alcohol. Rinse then wipe dry with a clean cloth. If household alcohol has not been effective, you can spray the glass with oven cleaner and scrub with a sponge. Be sure to rinse thoroughly as these are aggressive products.

14. Clean the microwave defrost rack

Almost all microwaves today have a very practical “ defrost ” function, which allows any frozen product to defrost in just a few minutes. All you have to do is put the product on the specially designed high defrost rack and set the timer!

Yes, but … as time goes by, the grid ends up deteriorating and oxidizing. To remedy this, it’s elementary: we will soak it for two hours in a mixture of hot water and household oxygen product. The grille will come out like new!

15. Clean the microwave tray

Often, looking at the tray of a microwave, you can find thanks to the stains therein the history of all the meals that have been reheated until then! So that it regains all its shine, we will remove it from its small base, and clean it with a sponge and washing up liquid.

If stubborn stains are encrusted, do not panic: we will soak it in a mixture of hot water and dishwashing liquid for an hour or two before cleaning it!

16. Protect your microwave

To avoid dirtying your device too much when you use it, the idea is to use a unique microwave cover. It will prevent you from splashing, and your dishes will be less dry when you reheat them.

Your microwave is now impeccable! I hope these tips and tricks are useful for you and your microwave. Other suggestions in stock? Complete our article in the comments.
