How to Make a Gumball Machine?

August 14, 2020 By Miranda Jackson Leave a Comment

Undoubtedly many of you and you remember the old gum machines that were a few years ago, with that large glass sphere where we could see the goodies that came out when we put a coin. Today these machines are collectors, but we can get very similar in a simple way and with great results.

Ingredients

To make this original chewing gum machine or any other jewel, we will need the following materials:

  • A medium-sized clay pot.
  • A glass container with a lid. Much better if it is spherical.
  • Paint for the pot of the color we want and another white paint.
  • Contact tail.
  • A lot of varied trinkets
  • Brush or broad brush.

Instructions

The procedure to make this original candy machine is straightforward. We’ll start by putting a few newspaper papers on a table and the pot upside down. We will put the paint in a small container and begin to paint the entire exterior of the pot, including the top.

Before it dries, we will put some white paint in another container, and with a kitchen paper we will wet a little in white paint and then in the other paint, in this case, turquoise green, we will drain it a little, and we will give small taps all over the pot. This will cause the primary color to acquire a vintage texture as if the machine had a lot of time and was slightly worn.

We will let dry following the instructions of the manufacturer, and when it is dry, we will use the contact tail on the top of the pot, throwing enough to cover that surface well. Then we will place the crystal sphere and stick it thoroughly. In this case, although the shape is spherical, the lower part is entirely straight, which will allow us to adhere to the flowerpot without any problem.

Between the flowerpot and the glass, we can place a rubber band in the form of a valance as well as in the lower part of the pot to give it a better finish. In this case, we can use rubber borders, wallpaper, fabric, or even metal if it is fragile, like aluminum, although the three previous alternatives are better. You have to choose correctly, and we will have a formidable decoration for this article that will be the envy of everyone who comes to our house.

If we want to add another detail, and especially if we have a good pulse, with a white marker, we can paint a slot to put coins, the knob to turn, and the bottom hole to get the gum or what we have gotten inside.

The last step to finish this original work of DIY is to open a lot of bags of decorations and put them inside, put the lid and think about what will be the best place to have it on hand or where it is better, at the entrance, the lounge, the room … I’m sure that in the end, they do not last too long the trinkets, especially if there are children at home. Do you dare to do this first craft?
