He sees things, your sink! Dirt, grease, chemicals, and much more. It is therefore normal that after some time it will lose its luster. Whether enameled or stainless steel, your kitchen sink will need to be pampered to regain its shine.
Although there are many chemical cleaning products to clean the sink, be aware that it is possible to achieve the same result with completely natural products and that we often already have on hand. Here are our tips and tricks for making a kitchen sink shine.
1. Shine a stainless steel sink with baking soda
To unclog and shine a stainless steel sink, sprinkle baking soda on a sponge and rub well everywhere. Rinse with warm water and wipe with a soft cloth.
For a filthy and dull stainless steel kitchen sink:
- Make a paste with baking soda and fresh lemon juice
- Rub gently with circular movements all over the inside of the sink
- Leave to act for a few minutes before rinsing with hot water and dry to finish with a soft cloth
2. Shine a sink with lemon
To make a stainless steel sink shine while deodorizing it, squeeze the juice of a lemon on a sponge and rub the entire surface of the sink. Rinse and dry with an absorbent cloth to avoid water stains.

3. Shine a sink with vinegar
Vinegar is one of the natural cleaning products that can be used to clean and disinfect almost anything at home. So why not use vinegar to make your kitchen sink shine?

- Soak a sponge or soft cloth with pure white vinegar and rub the surface of the sink well.
- Leave on for a few minutes, then rinse and dry.
You can also use this other cleaning method:
Clean your sink regularly and to make it shine, rub the surfaces of the sink with a sponge that you will have soaked in pure white vinegar and vegetable oil. Do not rinse.
4. Shine a stainless steel sink with the Silver Stone!
Have you ever heard of the Silver Stone? This product is simply miraculous for cleaning everything and making it shine in the house, including the stainless steel sink!
You can also use claystone to clean pots, white garden furniture, the white sole of your shoes and even the wheels of the car.
5. A potato to make a sink shine
Are you grandma’s tips and remedies type? Then the potato tip is ideal for you who want a useful and free cleaning tip!
This grandma tip uses either a piece of raw potato or the peels of it. Just rub the entire surface of the sink with the slice or the skin, leave to act for a few minutes, then rinse with hot water and dry.
This potato tip works well for cleaning and removing stains and making a stainless steel or porcelain sink shine.
6. Black soap to make a sink shine
To degrease and shine your kitchen sink:
- Apply a little black soap on a damp sponge and scrub the sink.
- Then rinse with warm water before drying with a cloth.
You could also use Marseille soap to achieve an equally satisfactory result. So for Marseille soap shavings here is what to do:
- Fill the bottom of your sink with hot water and melt it with shavings of Marseille soap.
- Using a sponge, thoroughly clean all surfaces of your sink before rinsing.
7. Shine a sink with citric acid
Citric acid will help you get rid of your stained and dull kitchen sink. To do this, you must
- Dissolve 2 tablespoons of citric acid in 1 liter of hot water.
- Rub your sink well with this mixture before rinsing with plenty of water.
Remember to wear gloves and protect your eyes before using this citric acid cleaning tip.
8. How do you make a resin sink shine?
Because they can become discolored or damaged by certain products, you have to be very careful about the method you choose to make a resin sink shine. Here are some tips for cleaning them properly without damaging them:
Lemon juice :
Rub your resin sink with a slice or wedge of fresh lemon, then rinse.
Claystone :
Sprinkle a little clay stone on a damp sponge and gently rub the entire surface before rinsing.
Household alcohol :
For a filthy sink, dilute alcohol and water in equal parts. Then rub your sink with a sponge soaked in this mixture before rinsing.
Black soap :
Rub your sink with a damp sponge and a few drops of black soap.
Liquid dish soap :
Wash your sink with a damp sponge and just a drop or two of liquid dish soap.
9. How to make a glazed ceramic sink shine?
Be careful not to scratch the enameled surface of a ceramic sink. Sponges and abrasive products should, therefore, be avoided. Here are some tips for cleaning and shining a ceramic sink:
Toothpaste :
Using a soft bristle brush, gently scrub the sink with toothpaste and a little water. Rinse well.
Washing powder :
Sprinkle the entire surface of the sink with powdered detergent, and spread with a damp sponge. Leave on for about fifteen minutes and rinse thoroughly.
Oven cleaner:
If your ceramic sink is very dirty, spray oven cleaner. Leave on for a few minutes before rinsing with plenty of water.
