How to Remove Grease Stain from Jeans?

June 20, 2020 By Miranda Jackson Leave a Comment

Jeans are undoubtedly a garment that most of us have in our wardrobe. In addition to being always in fashion, it is our most faithful ally to have a casual look. It’s normal to be heartbroken at the sight of a lousy grease stain on your jeans.

Also, these spots are unfortunately quite tight, they may become deeply embedded and it will be difficult for you to remove them. However, nothing is lost in advance; there are many tricks that can save you the day.

1. Remove a stain of engine grease

Have you just noticed a stain of engine fat on your favorite jeans? Do not panic, especially; it is possible to make it leave.

A mixture of baking soda and lemon juice is a great way to remove this grease stain from jeans.

Here’s how to get this cleaning tip right:

  • Gently rub the grease stain with lemon juice.
  • Then sprinkle with baking soda and continue to rub the grease stain.
  • Rinse the jeans with warm water and finish with a washing machine cleaning.

2. Remove an old grease stain from jeans

The hardest part is removing a stain of old grease from jeans, especially if the jeans have already been washed in the washing machine before and, therefore, if the dye is fixed on the textile.

Ammonia can be an excellent solution to remove a stain of fat well encrusted on jeans. Be careful though, only a few drops of ammonia mixed with water are necessary to clean the jeans stained with grease.

Above all, do not breathe ammonia vapors. Clean the grease stain outside on the balcony, never inside the house.

For other types of stains: grass, stain, or paint, here is the article to read as soon as possible: How to remove a stain on jeans?

3. Remove bike grease stain

How to remove a stain of bike fat on jeans? If it is a stain of bike fat on jeans, vinegar is a handy natural trick.

Just gently dab the grease stain with the vinegar to remove the stain. Remember to rinse and wash the jeans thoroughly at the end to remove all traces of vinegar on the jeans.

If the stain is more resistant or old and the vinegar does not work, then you can use white spirit. Indeed, White-Spirit is very useful in removing a grease stain on jeans.

4. Eliminate odor and fat with ammonia

Even if the ammonia gives off a disgusting and uncomfortable odor, it is a faithful ally to eliminate the fats that have tainted his jeans and, more particularly, those that have become encrusted over time. To do this, pour one to two drops of this product in water and apply it directly to the area.

However, be sure to ventilate the room before proceeding with this operation. You can also, of course, always carry out this stain removal operation outside.

5. Marseille soap and talc

This tip is especially useful in removing a stain of fat that is still fresh. You will only have to sprinkle the stain with talc fat reasonably quickly. The goal is to prevent it from getting stuck in your jeans, making “degreasing” easier.

In case a stubborn stain is still present after the application of talc, you will need to use Marseille soap. This time, you will have to pass soap over the infected area and then leave it to act for three-quarters of an hour before rinsing it off with lukewarm water. There, that damn stain should be gone for good.

6. Clean the grease with talc and iron

Since talc is very absorbent, it will be beneficial for getting rid of grease stains on your jeans. For its use, pour it on the stained area and put sheets of absorbent paper there, then pass the whole to the iron.

The role of the paper will be to absorb the stain in-depth and to wake up those that have become encrusted, making them easier to remove. A simple tip that you don’t necessarily think about.

7. The essence of turpentine

Turpentine essence can also help you get rid of an ugly grease stain on your jeans. Just dab the stain in question with a cloth soaked in turpentine. Then rinse and then wash the garment as usual.

8. The White Spirit

Grease and wax stains, in particular, the most resistant will be erased if you dab them (without ever rubbing or spreading) with a cloth moistened with White-spirit. After this express stain removal, rub the area with soap and wash regularly.

9. Baking soda and lemon against sludge

Baking soda and lemon are essential ingredients of the house. You can use a mixture of the two to get around a stain of engine grease. You will need to apply lemon juice to the affected area and rub it vigorously before washing it off.

As soon as you are done, immediately switch to baking soda in the same way. Then rinse your garment and put it in the machine as usual. The fat will be gone from your favorite jeans. Phew!

10. White vinegar

For stains from a black bike or engine grease, it is also possible to use the essential white vinegar. To do this, only clean by dabbing with a cloth dampened with pure white vinegar. We rinse and wash the jeans as usual. The fat will have disappeared when leaving the machine.

11. Soda crystals

This solution is straightforward; you will simply have to dab the stained area with a cloth soaked in a preparation consisting of a tablespoon of soda crystals and a bowl of hot water. You will see that your jeans will look like they did before being tainted.
