Tartar, also called tartar or dental calculus, is the hardening of bacterial plaque due to the deposit of minerals. This generally causes the teeth to appear unattractive, with a yellowish or brown coloration, and, at the border between the gums and the teeth, the residues can be even darker in color. Therefore, it is perceived as a kind of ‘scab’ over the said area.
Tartar is rough to the touch and, beyond being an aesthetic problem, it can lead to the appearance of other health problems. Tartar, when interacting with certain foods (such as candy, cola, and fried foods), releases an acid that can cause tooth decay. On the other hand, certain habits such as smoking, alcoholism, and excessive consumption of coffee can promote the appearance of tartar. There may also be an individual genetic predisposition to the production of tartar.
In addition to maintaining good dental hygiene habits, it is essential to visit the dentist regularly for deep cleaning. Now, you can also take advantage of the benefits of specific home remedies to avoid excess tartar on the teeth. If you can follow these tips, hope you remove tartar without going to the dentist.
1. Use baking soda and salt
Many people use baking soda mixed with lemon or salt to reinforce their dental hygiene and keep their teeth clean, given the properties of these ingredients. It is recommended to also mix with a little water as the flavor can be a bit strong. Be careful with its use because it can damage the enamel.
- 1 tablespoon of baking soda (10 g).
- 1 teaspoon of salt (5 g).
- Water (required amount).
- In a bowl, mix the baking soda and salt.
- Dip your toothbrush in warm water.

- ¼ cup of warm water (62 ml).
- 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide (20 ml).
- Put warm water in a glass and add the hydrogen peroxide. Stir to mix.
- Drink some water and swish for at least 1 minute.

- Rinse with cold water.
4. Sesame seeds for loosening accumulated dirt

Both strawberries and tomatoes can be used simply by slicing them and rubbing them directly on the teeth before each meal.
7. Rub the peel of certain fruits against the teeth
