How to Remove Tree Sap from Almost Anything?

June 23, 2020 By Miranda Jackson Leave a Comment

You walk in the forest and suddenly find yourself with fir gum on you and your clothes. This is an unfortunate situation, but it can still be resolved in a jiffy with the help of a few products and tips. Do you want to clean this sticky stain effectively? Some tips are great for removing tree sap or fir tree gum or pine pitch or resin efficiently.

1. Remove fir tree gum with WD-40

WD-40 is an excellent lubricant and penetrating oil, but also an excellent cleaner against grease and a multitude of other stains.

Well, if you just stained a garment with fir gum or pine gum, this penetrating product can save your life.

Here’s how to use it to detach a piece of clothing:

  • Spray a thin layer of wd-40 on the fir gum stain (cover the entire stain well)
  • Let sit for a few seconds and rub the garment with a cloth or soft bristle brush.
  • Rinse thoroughly and finish cleaning on the regular cycle in the washing machine.

2. 70° alcohol to dislodge a stain of fir resin

Alcohol at 70 ° or rubbing alcohol is an excellent ally for this cleaning tip! Here’s how to detach an item of clothing easily:

  • Soak a cloth with rubbing alcohol and rub the stain with fir or pine resin.
  • Rinse and wash the garment with hot water to completely remove the stain.

Rubbing alcohol can also be used to remove fir gum from hair.

3. Butter to remove pine sap from the skin

Another thing you can do at home to remove a stain of sap is to use butter or another fatty substance such as margarine.

This tip is effective in removing fir, pine, or other conifer gum from your skin.

So if your skin is stuck with fir gum, here is what you can do:

  • Rub the sap-stained skin with butter or margarine.
  • Then rinse off with soapy water to remove everything.

4. Scrape the sap and clean the sap with vinegar

If the stain of resin is dry and in good quantity, on the fabric, you must start by scraping the excess resin.

Simple to carry out, here is how to succeed this trick:

  • Use the back of a spoon to scrape off and remove excess fir sap.
  • Soak the white vinegar stain and leave to act for a few minutes.
  • Soak a cloth in hot water and gently rub the sap stain.
  • Rinse and repeat if the stain remains on the garment.

5. The iron to clean a stain of resin

Resin, sap, or fir gum stain, regardless of the source, the iron can be useful for cleaning this type of stubborn stain.

Here’s how to do this other cleaning tip:

  • Scrape off excess sap with the back of a spoon
  • Place absorbent paper on the sap or resin stain and use an iron.

The heat will effectively take off the sap and the absorbent paper will absorb it.

6. How do I remove resin from a car?

It is common to see a stain of resin or fir sap on the body of a car, especially if you live in the countryside.

But before using any product and tip, it is essential to read the following to avoid damaging the paint and bodywork of your car.

Rub the stain with butter or oil:

The best tip is to use butter or some oil. Indeed, a fatty substance will be useful in dislodging fir, pine or spruce gum and above all, you will not risk damaging the body of the car.

Clean the resin stain with household alcohol:

Soak a cloth in household alcohol or methylated spirits and dab the stain to remove everything. Rinse with another damp cloth and dry the body well.
