How to Use a TDS Meter?

September 4, 2020 By Miranda Jackson Leave a Comment

TDS is an acronym for Total Dissolved Solid, which means total dissolved solids. In other words, it’s about measuring the number of particles other than water (H2O). It is expressed in PPM (particles per million) or mg / l. These particles are of all types: minerals, bacteria, viruses, heavy metals, chlorine, other organic and inorganic particles *.

Standard

The standard for osmosis water varies between 10 and 100ppm depending on the water source and the device used. For example, in the case where a remineralization cartridge has been added downstream of the osmotic membrane or with our Ultimos which releases only one liter to produce one liter of osmosis water, the TDS will be higher. If the value is greater than 100PPM, it means that the membrane is no longer effective enough: it is time to replace it.

In general, a high-quality, unobstructed osmotic membrane can divide the TDS by 10, sometimes even more with the use of a booster pump.

How to use a TDS Tester

1. Please disconnect the electrode sleeve before use.
2. Press the switch, place the electrode in the test solution.
3. After the numerically stable, press the HOLD key and take it out of the solution to read.
4. After reading, turn off the meter, wipe the electrode before wrapping.

Note

1. Keep the electrode clean, cover the electrode protection sleeve, please remove the batteries for a long time at idle.
2.EC unit is mS / cm, the normal range of EC is between 1-4mmhos / cm (or mS / cm) 1ms = 1000 us, so 400 uS / cm = 0.4 mS / cm, it means 0.4EC.
3.TDS shows 0 ~ 9 pure water, 10 ~ 60 is mountain spring water, mineral water, 60 ~ 100 is purified water, 100 ~ 300 is running water, over 300 is contaminated water.

It is ideal for all wastewater control applications in aquaculture and hydroponics. You can carry it in your pocket with its case.

Conductivity tester with accurate and fast reading on the LCD.

This is the best way to test your water filtration system or as to the appropriate mix of meter entries. Cet gives a result with good accuracy. It is recommended for aquariums and freshwater aquaculture, horticulture and hydroponics, and pools and spas.
